Private Dining Room

A few wall carvings are displayed in this Private Dining Rooms floor. They are some of the famous pavilions including “Goose Pond” as found in different provinces in China and “Lanting” is ranked as one of the top four pavilions across the country. They were hand-carved on-site by a team of specialist craftsmen since 1972 and is yet another reminder of its enduring legacy. Such craftsmanship is hard to be seen nowadays.

It is well recognized that the most famous work of Wang Xizhi, the master of Chinese calligrapher, is the Preface to the Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilion and it is also believed that he was a goose lover. And that is why we name this floor as Lanting Palace as inspired by the Goose Pond.
